Conan stops a band of men from kidnapping a young woman and takes her to safety outside the small village he found her. Meanwhile, Baron Turb'eq has arrived looking for the girl, and when he and his men find Conan they attack. The two escape down a stream, and the girl uses magic to blind the pursuers, though she stops Conan from killing them. She wants to return to her tower and that night they find an inn to rest.

Unfortunately, the innkeeper betrays them and he hires some brutes to capture Conan and the girl. She once gain uses her magic bolts but the effort exhausts her and Conan finishes taking care of the men. They flee again as the Baron and his soldiers arrive. Conan and the girl make it to the rocks that border an icy sea and beyond he finds a purple, flamelike magical portal. He carries the weakened girl inside and her body transforms into that of a dying alien creature as the Baron and his men arrive.

The Baron wants the powerful knowledge the creature obviously has but Conan fights back, slaying the Baron and his men.

The creature thanks Conan as she dies and Conan manages to exit as the structure collapses.
