Description

Pierre Joubert, a top banker, puts his career and his life on the line for a love that is both forbidden and dangerous. A traumatic experience in his crime-ridden country causes him to consider a move to Provence, France, home of his Huguenot ancestors and epitome of civilised society. But two chance encounters in the idyllic village of Lacombe lead to unintended and grave consequences.

He first meets Shada, a Muslim girl from an Algerian immigrant family, and then Dr Uli Maier, humanist and free thinker intent on protecting Europe's secular values against an encroaching Islam. Daunting cultural differences cannot stop the powerful attraction Pierre and Shada feel for each other - a love that carries censure and condemnation in her world, and one that unintentionally draws into its orbit Hassan Salah-Brahim. Disaffected and trapped in a Paris slum, Hassan has been recruited by a terror group but soon finds he has to deal with more than one target. With his shadow long and dark over them all the assassin faces his own hard choices.

Four people, three missions, one deadly appointment with fate.

Rich in irony, The Twelfth Delegate is a contemporary thriller romance set in Johannesburg, Provence, Zurich, Algiers, and the Cape Winelands
